New X-Files Movie in 2008

Posted by admin

One of my favorite shows from the 90’s is The X-Files. This is due in part to the supreme hotness of Gillian Anderson, but also to the show’s cool, subdued approach to the paranormal. Up until The X-Files, most paranormal themed TV shows only came on late at night. These shows were the last hopes for washed up actors and visual effects crews apparently trained by special ed Arts & Crafts students and had names like The Outer Edge Areas and The Not So Normal Zone. The X-Files changed all that by incorporating out-of-the-box thinking like hiring qualified writers.

The X-Files

In 1998 The X-Files Movie debuted in theaters and the collective nerdgasm could be heard around the world. It raked in a stunning $189 million worldwide and immediately spawned rumors of a sequel. In 2002, the TV show ended and an attempt was made to suck in all of the straggling fans with a spin-off called The Lone Gunmen, based off of characters from the original X-Files. The show promptly failed. This is essentially due to the absence of Gillian Anderson’s hotness. The Lone Gunmen were repugnant basement-dwelling troglodytes. Much like the show’s viewers.

Almost ten years after The X-Files Movie hit theaters the rumors of a sequel are finally being realized. The forthcoming nerdgasm could wipe out several major cities.

In addition to starring both David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as the beloved Mulder and Scully, the movie will also star rapper and host of MTv’s Pimp My Ride Xzibit, actress Amanda Peet, and Scottish actor/comedian Billy Connolly. The movie is slated for a July 25, 2008 release.

The X-Files 2

It’s hard to say at this point whether or not this movie can live up to the expectations of us fans, but as long as George Lucas doesn’t come anywhere near the studio, it should turn out alright. However, if there is a scene wherein Xzibit says anything about pimping a spaceship, I will attack the screen with knives.
